Divine Perspective Adjustment
Second grade was a big year for me.
Early in that school year, my teacher, Ms. Friedman, noticed a problem - I couldn’t read the simple words and equations on the chalkboard. Ms. Friedman brought this to my mom’s attention, and they both suspected that I needed glasses. Within the next day or two, my mom brought me to the optometrist and to get eyes checked out. To no one’s surprise, my vision was terrible, and I was promptly suited for a wonderful tool - my first pair of glasses. This was a game changer. Still to this day, my mom references my reaction when I walked outside of that doctor’s office. She claims that I acted as though I had never seen the outside world before. In a way, I hadn’t. At least, not an un-blurry world.
As an eight year old, I had already forgotten what the beautiful details of clouds and trees looked like. I could read books, but the book had to be an inch from my face. Because caring people noticed my issue and corrected my perspective, the world was no longer a blurry and frustrating mess. I was finally able to thrive at school and enjoy the little things of life. My perspective of the world had completely changed through the help of a professional perspective adjuster and that new tool called glasses.
Do you see where I’m going with this story? (pun intended)
When we don’t see the world the way that God intended, there is a lot of blurriness. Without the proper lens, life will continue to be more painful, frustrating, and hopeless than it has to be. When we don’t see clearly, we might not even realize how bad things are! The point is this: From time to time, we all need a divine perspective adjustment.
Spiritually speaking, how’s your vision?
Can you not read the words on the chalkboard that you used to be able to?
Do you feel like you keep bumping into things?
Do things keep bumping into you?
